Want to see Alaska from a pilots view? How about seeing parts of Alaska that you can ONLY see from an airplane? Thinking about flying to Alaska and wonder what it might look like? Thinking about flying your home built airplane to Alaska? Or have you always wanted to fly to Alaska but cannot seem to find the time? Or do you just plain love magnificent scenery?
If you answer yes to any of the above questions, than this video is for you! These 2 videos were condensed from over 25 hours of video taken from an under wing HD camera on an airplane flying over some of the most amazing scenery that Alaska has to offer. This camera ship, an RV-10 homebuilt airplane, was part of a group of 10 airplanes that left Olympia, Washington on a flying adventure through British Columbia, The Yukon, and Alaska. The goal was to FLY Alaska, not just fly TO Alaska. To accomplish that objective, the flights were rarely flown at an altitude of more than 500 feet over the ground. You will see the raw beauty of desolation in the Tundra to flights up and down glaciers with ice bluer than you could ever imagine.
This HD video captures the true beauty of Alaska and is set to music and narration. And while watching it on a Blu-Ray player will really bring out the awesome detail, regular DVDs are available. The second video on each disc focuses solely on the glacier flying. It only has music (no narration) and makes a great backdrop on a big screen TV for parties, as well as for great conversation while at work on the pc!
As mentioned, the camera ship was a Vans RV-10, as seen here.
The group was led by Dale Hemman of letsflyalaska.com. There was a combination of Homebuilt aircraft (RV-10s and RV-6A), multiple Bonanzas, a Cirrus, a Cessna Columbia, a Mooney, and a Beech Travel Air. You will see many of them throughout the video.
Here is a 30 second preview. Watch in High-Definition to see the true quality!
